Who doesn’t like pizza! But buying pizza out is SO expensive and making your own is too time consuming. But wait . . . maybe there’s a way to make your own pizza without it breaking the bank and taking more time than you have!
Years ago, my friend, Kathy Gentzler, gave me a pizza dough recipe that doesn’t need to rise. That’s right – it doesn’t need to rise. You just mix it up, let it rest a few minutes, and then shape the dough and add the toppings. It’s that easy. I’ve included a photo of my recipe card so you can see how much I’ve used this recipe.
Now if you want to give it a try, here are the instructions.
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2-1/2 c. flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients; beat vigorously 20 strokes. Let rest 5 minutes.
Grease two pizza pans (sometimes I make four or five smaller pizzas and let each family member make their own). Press dough into pans (or you can roll into a circle with rolling pin and then transfer to pans). Add toppings. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes (be sure to watch – time may vary depending on your oven – I usually just do 12 to 15 minutes).
NOTE: I usually top my pizza with plain old turkey pepperoni (boring, I know) but my husband likes to make his interesting. His favorite combination so far is chopped spinach, chopped tomatoes, a few onion slices, feta cheese, chopped artichokes, black olives, and a little mozzarella to hold it all on. He doesn’t use pizza sauce but instead brushes the crust with a little olive oil and a dash of pizza spice.
And if you come from a divided household, like I do, where my husband wants wheat crust and I want white, try this:

So that’s how we make our pizza. I would love to hear from you about how you make yours.
