ดอยอินทนนท์ หรือ อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยอินทนนท์ เชียงใหม่ จัดเป็นลำดับที่ 1 ของประเทศไทย ที่เป็นดอยที่สูงที่สุด และจัดเป็นลำดับที่ 6 ในประเทศไทย ที่มีพื้นที่ 482.4 ตารางกิโลเมตร ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ในเขตอำเภอจอมทอง อำเภอแม่แจ่ม อำเภอแม่วาง และกิ่งอำเภอดอยหล่อ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ดอยอินทนนท์แต่เดิมดอยนี้มีชื่อว่า "ดอยหลวง" หรือ "ดอยอ่างกา" หรือ ดอยหลวง มาจากขนาดของดอยที่ใหญ่มาก ชาวบ้านจึงเรียกกันว่า "ดอยหลวง" (หลวง: เป็นภาษาเหนือ แปลว่า ใหญ่)

อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยอินทนนท์ เดิมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ "ป่าสงวนแห่งชาติดอยอินทนนท์" ต่อมาได้ถูกสำรวจและจัดตั้งเป็น 1 ใน 14 ป่าที่ทางรัฐบาลให้ดำเนินการเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ
