The men who jumped in and the men who helped them all out are true New Yorkers. People call us rude, no, we just mind our business. People call us callous, no, it's a busy city and we've all got somewhere to be. But I've never turned down a person who needs help. Whether it's the lost tourist, whether it's an older citizen crossing the street too late, or a person who dropped a personal belonging. A real New Yorker, minds their business but also knows when it's time to step in and help someone.
