Due to the importance of the immunological diagnosis of human
strongyloidiasis in immunocompromised individuals, it is necessary to
apply techniques which have good diagnostic parameters. The application
of immunoassays based on the use of the detergent fraction in the
diagnosis of this parasitosis is advantageous by its high sensitivity and
specificity in relation to total saline extract. This factor is particularly
important for individuals who have some type of immune impairment,
because in these cases this parasite can be fatal.
