The Mandarine has just had a major refurbishment and is stunning as you walk in and it had only been open for 4 days when we arrived. However, there were a lot of teething problems due to lack of staff on the reception and check in was painfully slow even though we were a day late due to our plane being cancelled. Our room was very large with an enormous bed but no waste paper bin or bathroom bin. I asked for one to be delivered and we had a grimy bucket without any liner delivered and placed in the bathroom for the duration of our 5 day stay. They also actually missed us out several times with room cleaning. The staff all speak very good English and went out of their way to be helpful and were very apologetic. The breakfast that was part of the deal was extremely good and they happily provided very good breakfast boxes for us when we left very early. Sadly they do not have a bar in the hotel or a separate restaurant which is a shame as its a little far out to walk to a restaurant. We were told a bar and restaurant are planned for 2015. Overall, this is a really lovely hotel and extremely good value for money if you don't mind being out of the nightlife of Bangkok but it is very close to the sky train which was a bonus.
