The plasma and tissue corticosterone concentrations before and following 24 h of food and water deprivation are shown in Figure 3. Plasma concentrations of corticosterone were significantly (P < 0.05) greater 12 h and 24 h after food and water deprivation than before food and water deprivation. In the liver, the concentration of corticosterone was significantly (P < 0.05) greater 12 h and 24 h after food and water deprivation than before. In skeletal muscle, the concentration of corticosterone was significantly greater (P < 0.05) 24 h after food and water deprivation than before food and water deprivation.
