CONCLUSIONS
This paper presents a knowledge reuse supported ideas
creation framework, with a particular focus on system
generated new research ideas. The main contribution is the
proposed knowledge reuse method with designed
corresponding algorithms. Based on previous research studies,
it explains phases of the proposed ideas creation frameworks.
Then, the process of knowledge bases reuse is proposed with
algorithms designed to support the ontologies’ merging.
Formulas to compute the reuse degrees in resulting ontology
and generated ideas are designed as well to help on
understanding the reuse’s efficiency. Furthermore, a developed
Research Topics Generation System was presented as case
study, in which a domain ontology was created by reuse an
legacy ontology following proposed knowledge reuse method.
Also, a set of research topics was listed as the system generated
ideas, and the reuse degrees of the ideas was calculated and
represented. The case study illustrated that the proposed
knowledge reuse and corresponding algorithms can be applied
in a case study to support the generation of new research ideas
effectively.
