This study showed that the levels were below what was reported by Agorku and Voegborlo (2005) and Emami Khansari et al. (2005).The concentrations of mercury in muscle samples of fish from the Persian Gulf were 0.049–0.402 (µg g-1) (Raissy & Ansari, 2014).
The concentration of mercury reported by FDA (2000) ranged from 0.082 - 0.160 (µg g-1) wet weight. This study concentration the different brands of canned fish analyzed could be attributed to the fact that some fish are older than others
