การใช้ประโยชน์จากงานวิจัยและทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาในเชิงพาณิชย์
รูปแบบการถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีแบ่งออกเป็น 3 แบบ คือ ได้แก่

งานวิจัยที่ดำเนินการภายในมหาวิทยาลัย มักได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจากแหล่งทุนภายนอก สัญญาวิจัยซึ่งเป็นเสมือนข้อตกลงในประเด็นต่างๆ ในการดำเนินงานวิจัยระหว่างผู้ให้ทุนและผู้ทำวิจัย รูปแบบสัญญาวิจัยจึงเป็นไปตามลักษณะการดำเนินงานวิจัย ซึ่งประกอบด้วย
 สัญญารับทุนสนับสนุนการวิจัย (Sponsored Research)
 สัญญารับจ้างวิจัย (Commission Research)
 สัญญาร่วมวิจัย (Collaborative Research)
 สัญญาให้สารหรือวัสดุเพื่อการวิจัย (Research Materials Transfer)

การอนุญาติให้ใช้สิทธิ(Licensing)
รายละเอียด
การอนุญาตให้ใช้สิทธิคือการอนุญาตให้ผู้ขอใช้สิทธิได้ใช้สิทธิใดๆ เช่น ผลิต ใช้ ขาย มีไว้เพื่อขาย เสนอขาย หรือนำเข้ามาในราชอาณาจักร จากผู้อนุญาตให้ใช้สิทธิซึ่งเป็นเจ้าของสิทธินั้น โดยไม่มีการเปลี่ยนความเป็นเจ้าของโดยทั่วไป การอนุญาตให้ใช้สิทธิจะแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ประเภทหลักๆ คือ
 ให้ใช้สิทธิแต่เพียงผู้เดียว (Exclusive Licensing)
 ให้ใช้สิทธิโดยไม่จำกัดแต่เพียงผู้เดียว (Non-Exclusive Licensing)
 ให้ใช้สิทธิแต่เพียงผู้เดียวแต่ไม่จำกัดเจ้าของสิทธิ (Sole Licensing)
