The Imagingsource DFK 31BU03.H[40] uses a
Sony ICX204AK,[41] diagonal 6mm (type 1=3’’),
progressive scan CCD image sensor with square
pixel for color cameras with 1024768 pixels of
resolution;
The product is illuminated using an annular white
LED light source (The Imagingsource DEL=
RL.WI 4540), using LEDs with phosphorouscoated
blue chips (Sassen SS5W4UAEC);
The lighting system itself does not prevent direct
light reflection;
At the working distance the light source provides
an even distribution of the light over the slice
investigated;
The light source is connected to the camera and
allows for variable illumination conditions.
Continuous illumination was chosen;
The drying tower (T), including all measurement
devices, was placed in a dark room to prevent disturbances
caused by ambient light; additionally all
parts of the system illuminated are painted in
matte black to prevent reflections;
To minimize the effects of possible unevenness in
radiation and to compensate for the device dependent
inaccuracy of the color values in the RGB
color space a Konica-Minolta CM-A103 white
reference tile, which is placed directly besides the
sample investigated,[20] and a black background
are used. Both values are considered in the analysis
algorithm;
Surrounding temperature of the camera is measured
continuously and never exceeded 30C during
experiments; an alarm is set for the case when
surrounding temperature exceeds 40C;
The images were taken at maximum resolution
(1024768 pixels);
The camera and light system are controlled and
the data is captured using the software tool
IC-Capture (The Imagingsource).
