We have also added the heat loss on the end of the bar to closer approxi- mate real life. Unfortunately, as is the case in real life, we did not put our thermistor near the heat source. The thermistors are at the midway point on the bar. Thus, we would expect to see a time lag between when the heater is turned on and when we detect a tempera- ture change. As a result, we also expect to see some oscillations in the bar temperature at the mea- surement point. This is born out by the simulation results shown in Figs 10a and b, where we can see about 0.25 Kelvin oscillations in temperature.
