HACCP has become accepted internationally
as the best means of ensuring food safety. In 2004,
the European Union (EU) adopted several new
regulations on the hygiene of foods, including one
(852/2004/EC) mandating that effective January 1,
2006 all food business operators implement
procedures based on the HACCP principles. Other
government authorities across the globe, including
Canada, Australia and Japan, have adopted or are
adopting the HACCP-based food safety control
