แปลบทความวิจัยIA Tulane University medical student saw his life threatened and then saved Friday morning, when a robber shot him in the stomach and then tried to put a bullet in his head — but the gun jammed. The attack and miraculous survival of Peter Gold, 25, was captured on a surveillance camera. Gold is still recovering from the shooting, which happened after he heroically intervened in an apparent robbery, NOLA.comreported. Gold stopped his car and got out after seeing a man dragging a woman toward a car around 4 a.m., police said.
The brute pulled a gun on Gold and demanded money, even as the student insisted he had none, police said. Surveillance footage shows Gold pleading with the gunman while holding his hands in the air. The gunman fired a shot into Gold’s gut, then put the gun to his head as Gold writhed in agony on the street. But the gun would not fire. After two attempts, the would-be killer stormed away and drove off, leaving the woman behind, but taking her purse. Gold is in “guarded” condition at New Orleans hospital but expected to recover, police said. The woman was treated for minor injuries. Police are still searching for the gunman, described as a black man in his 20s or 30s, standing 6 feet tall. His face is clearly seen in the chilling clip. Gold is in his fourth year at Tulane’s med school and also earned a bachelor’s degree there, university president Michael Fitts said in a campus-wide email.
