In order to specify present status on management of
pesticide packaging waste in Thailand, surveillance on
routs of pesticide packaging waste from farmer’s field
to disposal was conducted. Business owners involved
in the waste supply chain from farmer’s field to destination were interviewed for their business
running process concerning pesticide packaging.
Pesticide residue were determined in empty pesticide
bottles collected from farmer’s field, and bottle soaked
water and surface soil were collected from glass bottle
washing plants. The result has been reported
previously [2]. In the meantime, the best practice on
success CMS has been studied. Key successful factors
contributing to the scheme, lesson learned from the
program and precautions were identified. Data and
information on best practices were accessed through
internet websites of the European Crop Protection
Association [4], Crop Life Science [5] and Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations [6],
for instances. Appropriate management model of
pesticide packaging waste for Thailand was then
developed on the basis of Thai context. The existing
and available tools and, in particular, all stakeholder
participation were the major considered factors.
