It was observed that response of human plasma antioxidant
activity expressed as lipophilic antioxidants (ORACL) observed
after consumption of sweet cherries seem to be more prolonged
than after eating blueberries. It has been shown that even 5 h
after consumption of cherries the antioxidant potential had high
ORACL values, whereas 4 h after consumption of blueberries, this
antioxidant defense level was significantly reduced (Fig. 4) [26].
Another fruit that has a significant effect on plasma antioxidant
capacity is kiwi, which increases plasma TAC due to the
presence of hydrophilic antioxidants. However kiwi, strawberries,
and red grapes do not cause significant changes in
plasma antioxidant potential dependent on lipophilic antioxidants
(Fig. 6).
