วิธีวิจัย การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการ (Action Research). มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเพื่อพัฒนาระบบการรายงานการเฝ้าระวังการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาลจัตุรัสจังหวัดชัยภูมิโดยใช้การเชื่อมต่อข้อมูลสารสนเทศและเพื่อการพัฒนาประสิทธิภาพการเฝ้าระวังการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาลระยะเวลาดำเนินการ 1ปี ตั้งแต่ เดือนตุลาคม 2556ถึงเดือนกันยายน 2557โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ศึกษาเป็นกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง ซึ่งได้แก่ผู้ป่วยในที่เข้ารับการพักรักษาในหอผู้ป่วยใน 2 แห่ง คือหอผู้ป่วยในชาย และหอผู้ป่วยหญิง จำนวน 5,063 คน ยกเว้นผู้ป่วยที่มาทำการผ่าตัดตาทั้งหมดที่เข้ารับการพักรักษาในโรงพยาบาลจัตุรัส จังหวัดชัยภูมิซึ่งเป็นโรงพยาบาลชุมชน ขนาด 60 เตียง ในจังหวัดชัยภูมิ ในช่วงระยะเวลาที่กำหนดและพยาบาลควบคุมการติดเชื้อประจำหอผู้ป่วย (Infection Control Ward Nurse : ICWN) จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 8 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ประกอบด้วยแบบเฝ้าระวังการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาลที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างเองเชื่อมต่อข้อมูลกับโปรแกรมHosXp และเกณฑ์การวินิจฉัยการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาล วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาโดยใช้หลักแจกแจงความถี่ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล

สรุป การพัฒนารูปแบบการายงานการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาลจัตุรัส จังหวัดชัยภูมิทำให้พยาบาลควบคุมการติดเชื้อประจำหอผู้ป่วย(ICWN)มีการรายงานการติดเชื้อที่พบเพิ่มขึ้นและมีส่วนให้ ประสิทธิภาพการเฝ้าระวังการติดเชื้อในโรงพยาบาลเพิ่มขึ้น
