ประวัติความเป็นมาของอุทยานฯ
อุทยานแห่งชาติภูสวนทราย (นาแห้ว) ตั้งอยู่ในเขตอำเภอนาแห้ว จังหวัดเลย ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 3 ตำบล ได้แก่ ตำบลนาแห้ว ตำบลแสงภา ตำบลเหล่ากอหก อำเภอนาแห้ว จังหวัดเลย มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 73,225 ไร่ หรือ 117.16 ตารางกิโลเมตร ด้วยสภาพขุนเขาที่สูงสลับซับซ้อนกันในพื้นที่ อำเภอนาแห้ว ประกอบกับเป็นผืนป่าที่มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ สภาพป่าโดยส่วนใหญ่เป็นป่าดิบชื้น ซึ่งมีที่ราบน้อย จุดที่สูงที่สุดประมาณ 1,408 เมตร จากระดับน้ำทะเล สภาพอากาศค่อนข้างเย็นสบายตลอดปี เนื่องจากความสมบูรณ์ของป่าธรรมชาติซึ่งมีพันธุ์ไม้อยู่หนาแน่น ในช่วงฤดูหนาวอากาศค่อนข้างจะหนาวเย็น
