ดอยอินทนนท์ อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยอินทนนท์ เชียงใหม่ ประกาศเป็นอุทยานฯ เมื่อพ.ศ.2515 ประกาศเป็นอุทยานฯ เป็นลำดับที่ 6 ของประเทศไทย มีพื้นที่ 482.4 ตารางกิโลเมตร ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ในเขตอำเภอจอมทอง อำเภอแม่แจ่ม อำเภอแม่วาง และกิ่งอำเภอดอยหล่อ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ดอยอินทนนท์แต่เดิมดอยนี้มีชื่อว่า "ดอยหลวง" หรือ "ดอยอ่างกา"ดอยหลวง มาจากขนาดของดอยที่ใหญ่มาก ชาวบ้านจึงเรียกกันว่า "ดอยหลวง" (หลวง: เป็นภาษาเหนือ แปลว่า ใหญ่)
