Fig. 13 shows the daily average temperature curves of inside and outside the beehive during the experiment. The figure indicates that the temperature variations inside the beehive followed those of ambient temperatures. However, the beehive temperature was generally higher than the ambient temperature in most experimental period. An inspection of the experimental results shows that the temperatures monitored near the nectar region inside the beehive ranged from 18 to 34 C. Moreover, the differences in the ambient and beehive temperatures were found between 0 C and 7 C. Note that the recorded beehive temperatures fell within the range reported by Kraus et al. In their study, the temperature in
the nectar region varied between 18 and 34 C. This fact demonstrates that the proposed monitoring system can provide reliable performance on temperature measurements inside and outside the beehive with a real-time fashion.
