Semantic Similarity
There are situations that the syntactic similarity cannot
reflect the reality. For example, two concepts are similar at
semantic level but with total different names. Therefore, it is
necessary to consider semantic similarity for a practical
ontology merging. To understand concepts from semantic
perspective, it requires a rich general semantic database in
support. Here WordNet is employed because it is an opensource
English dictionary computerised semantically. In
WordNet, a word is a basic concept defined by a set of
synonyms (synset), a definition [25] and an example sentence .
