A 24-hr UNa represents dietary sodium intake for a specified
24-hour period in stable patients without fluid overload or sodium imbalance. Diuretics and ACE inhibitors reverse
sodium retention, and may influence the balance between
sodium intake and a 24-hr UNa collection for a specified
24-hour period. Although this study recruited patients who
had been on stable medication doses for at least three months
prior to enrolment, not all patients were treated with
diuretics and ACE inhibitors. In addition, 24-hr UNa
collection was measured only once, reflecting adherence to
the SRD for that specified 24-hour period only. This study
was conducted in Korean HF patients. It may not be
appropriate to apply these findings to other populations that
may have different environments and life styles. Lastly, these
data had some selection bias. Namely, this study could not be
used to carry out a preliminary analysis comparing participants with non-participants on the main variables.
